Van, an important city in Eastern Turkey, has been devastated by a major earthquake with a magnitude of 7.2. Up to now, authorities said that there are 279 death and around 1300 wounded people. People all around Turkey started to be organized just after the earthquake via Twitter, and they have been trying to forward humanitarian aid to disaster area. You can follow all the tweets related to the earthquake via #van hashtag on Twitter.

On the other hand, Google has just given a hand to people in the disaster area. It offered its people finder engine which was firstly used in 2010 Haiti earthquake. It was also very useful for Japanese people who had lost their relatives or friends in the earthquake and tsunami disaster which was happened on March 11th, 2011. With Van earthquake, this tool started to work again, and has been helping people find their relatives or friends. The tool can be used in Turkish for its mission, and up to now, there are 2700 records left to the tool.
