Apple’s third generation tablet has already gone on sale worldwide, however we haven’t seen it officially around here yet, although some offline and online stores started to sell the 16 GB Wi-Fi only option. We were waiting for an end of April launch, but Apple led us to disappointment by not announcing Turkey inside countries where the new iPad would go on sale at the end of last month.
We might miss the April windows, but May will be very different. All of three mobile operators in Turkey have announced that they would offer the new iPad to their customers starting from Saturday, 5 May. In addition, Apple Turkey has just updated its web site with the new iPad ads, and information in Turkish language. You can see the banners of Avea, Turkcell and Vodafone under the availability section on the new iPad information page. Since the announcement of the availability of the new iPad is done via mobile operators, we can expect that the first batch of tablets might be the 4G ones. We haven’t had LTE connection yet, though the frequency wouldn’t be supported even if we had, however users in Turkey will have a chance to enjoy HSPA+ speeds.
The price information hasn’t been available yet. We think that operators are going to wait until the last minute. We are going to update you about the availability. Maybe we will have definite information about the Wi-Fi only options in the following days just before or after the May 5 launch.
